In other news, she piddled in her pants today when she was exploring the basement.  I could tell she was uncomfortable in her wet diaper because she refused to come up the stairs.  Maybe if she's uncomfortable, she'll stop doing it.  I also heard that putting their food where they potty will teach them not to potty there, so I went around the house and put little piles of food on the floor on her favorite places.  Apparently she was hungry, because she followed me around and ate the food as I put it down, so I had to fill her treat ball with food to distract her so I could finish.

I started painting today... well, spent several hours yesterday and most of today doing prep, but I did get one coat of cutting in done around the baseboard trim.  Kevin started fixing the holes that the electrician had to drill in order to install wiring for the chandelier.  He's got the drywall patches in there, so just have to put some joint compound over it, sand it and re-texture it.

She actually doesn't mind them too much... it only took her a couple minutes to start walking around in them.  She didn't pee in the house, but she did sneak outside a couple times when Kevin went outside, and wet her Pampers in the yard...

Got the carpets cleaned today and then went to PetSmart and got doggie diapers for Sash (No, I'm not kidding) in hopes that she will stop peeing all over the place.   I'm hoping that once we move all the furniture in and live there full time, she'll realize it's her house and stop marking her territory all over it.

In other news, our new sofa is coming tomorrow!  Pics to follow...

The hickory floors are finally done!  Boy, we were a bit worried when they started putting it in because we had no idea hickory had such a wide color variation.  The hardwood floor people had a hickory floor in their office, but they must have used only select pieces because it looks nothing like this.

When we first saw the floor "raw", it was quite a shock... the sapwood was almost white and the heartwood was stark red against it.  We consoled ourselves with the idea that we can always stain it dark to reduce the color variation, until I read a bunch of articles on the internet that said hickory doesn't take stain well (which was in contrast to what the hardwood floor people had told us when we chose it.)  Plus, we don't get a lot of natural light in that house, and I was afraid a dark floor would make it even darker.

Anyway, the guys came over to do some stain samples, and we settled on a stain called Cutmeg, which I think is their "nutmeg" stain only lighter.  It was just enough to bring out the grain in the sapwood, but didn't make it too dark.  Now that the stain is on and the oil based polyurethane is on (gives it a yellow tinge), the floor is absolutely gorgeous!

It's a little "country", but the house is in the woods and the kitchen cabinets are already a little country, so I think it all goes.  We're not planning on decorating "country", but our decorating style leans toward "natural", so I think it will look great in the end!

I stumbled upon this article tonight... some great ideas for organizing and using your space to its fullest.  I am going to implement a few of these in my closet!

One of the things I am really thinking about (which is not part of this article) is making some kind of lazy susan shelving system for the very deep blind corner in my closet.  I was thinking about using it to hold shoes, so maybe using some kind of peg board and hanging the shoes from the hooks.  Stay tuned!
