This spring and summer we promised ourselves that we were going to get out and go hiking more. We've discovered there are a lot of great trails in our new neck of the woods!
Castlewood Canyon State Park
This great park is about 30 miles north of us near Franktown. We've done two different trails here... the first one was last year and we saw an amazing number of grasshoppers, they were literally hopping back and forth by the dozens in front of us with every step we took. A couple weeks ago when these pics were taken, there was a great display of wild flowers!

Spruce Mountain Open Space
This past weekend, Kevin found us a great trail up Spruce Mountain near Palmer Lake. Wildflowers were in abundance again (as was the horse dookey, you gotta take the good with the bad, I guess). There is one part of this trail that has a LOT of butterflies... they seem to have a problem with spatial relations, a couple of times they almost face-planted right into our chests.

And last but not least... Kevin relaxing in his hammock. Bring it on, summer! We're ready!
