Oh, plastic hangers, why did I shun you for so long? I know why... because you can fit so many more wire hangers in your closet. Never mind that they always get tangled with each other. Never mind that they always get hung up on the lip in the extendable rod. Never mind that you don't really NEED that many clothes anyway, especially when some of them don't even fit you anymore.
Walmart has a sale going on right now, 10 for $1, so I ditched an entire box full of wire hangers and outfitted both Kevin's and my closet with them. Mine are pretty green and aqua, his are navy blue. The brown ones hidden in between are felt-covered hangers that I found on sale at Ross. They have wire tops, but are great for those silky type shirts that are always sliding off the hangers. Our closets are so much happier now!
I stumbled upon this article tonight... some great ideas for organizing and using your space to its fullest. I am going to implement a few of these in my closet!
One of the things I am really thinking about (which is not part of this article) is making some kind of lazy susan shelving system for the very deep blind corner in my closet. I was thinking about using it to hold shoes, so maybe using some kind of peg board and hanging the shoes from the hooks. Stay tuned!
That 70's House
Our new (to us) house was built in 1973... and while the dark wood trim and hickory ceiling beams are part of what drew us to the house, it still needs to be brought into this decade. This blog will document our attempts to update the house, while still maintaining its old-school charm.
